Naaldzang en Kopje Troost.

Morgen, zaterdag 10 december, komt de Brugse breiclub Naaldzang 's namiddags weer samen in Kopje Troost, gelegen aan het stemmige Biskajerspleintje:

Het was er goed breien de eerste keer ik er kwam als bezoeker:

Dit katje kaapte alle aandacht weg en lijkt mij best geschikt als mascotte,

en was bezig met een afbeelding van handen naar Dürer:

Maschenkunst, Keulen. Cologne.

Erg fijn was het om na de Duitse Ravelry-bijeenkomst nog een omweg te maken via Keulen:

Half oktober en we konden nog een terrasje meepikken:

En dan vol verwachting op weg naar Maschenkunst:

Aan de ingang een uitnodigende bank bekleed met wild breiwerk:

In het uitstalraam stond zowaar een gebreide taart met kaarsjes en mini-sokjes:

Binnenin was de wand met strengen Artyarns om bij weg te zwijmelen:

Het moet fijn zijn om als plaatselijke breiclub samen te komen in zo'n stimulerende omgeving, alleen al de klossen Noro-garen tegen de muur werken inspirerend:

Onze tassen waren welgevuld bij de terugkeer naar België, raad eens waarmee?

Rata sjaal. Rata scarf. Finals.

Na het boeiende breiproces is het een heerlijk sjaaltje geworden:

Rata sjaal. Rata scarf. Blocking.

Pas toen ik de sjaal geblokt had kwam de subtiliteit van het patroon ten volle tot uiting:
Only after blocking the scarf the subtlety of the pattern became obvious:
C'est le bloquage du châle qui a dévoilé toute la subtilité du modèle:


Het middenpatroon is gebaseerd op weefpatronen van de Maori:
The pattern in the middle is inspired by weaving patterns of the Maori:

Mijn assistente vond het ook een prachtig boordpatroon:

Ze was er moeilijk van te overtuigen dat dit geen echt cat's paw-motief is:
She was formal that this edging is called cat's paw, she is wrong however:

Not so easy to resist the temptation to remove the pins before the scarf is completely dry:

Het breien van de Rata sjaal. The knitting of my Rata scarf.

Mijn Ratasjaal is grotendeels tot stand gekomen op het terras, breiboek in de Bookseat, kopje thee erbij, gezellig:
My Rata scarf was knit mainly on the terrace, knitting book in the Bookseat, with a nice cup of tea:

Het was de bloeitijd van de Hibiscus syriacus waarvan de bloemknoppen exact dezelfde kleur vertoonden als het garen voor de sjaal:
The Rose of Sharon was in full bloom and the flower buds were exactly the same colour as the knitting yarn:
L'Hibiscus était en fleur et la couleur des boutons rappelait celle du fil à tricoter:



Na enige tijd had de sjaal iets weg van een gordijntje:
