Madeira 07-09-2008

A first stroll through the hotel garden which hosts a substantial number of plants, shrubs and trees from all over the world:

Always an eye-catcher is the Kigelia africana or sausage tree: the flowers are a magnificent red and the fruits can weigh several kgs:

The papaya tree shows its flowers, its intricate leaves and its fruit:

The flowers of the coral tree from South America are draped like jewels:

Following is the African Hibiscus calyphyllus, a lovely pale yellow enhance by a warm brown heart:

Eén van de mooie Anduzevazen:
One of the beautiful Anduze vases:

A stroll in the afternoon to have a look at the flowering silk floss trees:

As the city of Funchal exists for 500 years, there were some festivities like this folk dancing. I like the way the girls wear their cape sideways:

At the same time the Madeira Wine Festival is taking place, hence these charming ambassadresses:

In these colourful surroundings the Noro yarn I am crocheting with does not seem too flashy. Hopefully I will not have to change my mind when back in greyish Belgium?

Both your taste in yarn and your photography are fabulous!
