Juneberry triangle-Wolkeuze. Yarn choice. Choix du fil.

Van zodra ik de Juneberry triangle zag vond ik het een prachtige sjaal. Ook de constructie intrigeerde me: het leek mij een klassieke opbouw vanuit de nek opgezet zoals de Kiri sjaal. Na enig speurwerk vond ik in mijn stekenboeken de 4 gebruikte motieven terug. Toch bestelde ik de Juneberry bij Jimmy Beans wool; ik was o.a. nieuwsgierig of Jared Flood de nopjes van de breimotieven ook op z'n Japans maakte, nl. met een haaktechniek in het breiwerk...
Voor de wol wou ik echt de kleur van bessen imiteren en zo viel ik voor heerlijk zachte Silk Maiden van het Canadese Hand Maiden:
As soon as I saw the Juneberry triangle from Brooklyntweed I liked it and it seemed to me a classic construction from the neck down like the Kiri shawl. I looked up the different stitches in my dictionaries (Burda, Vogue, Hitomi Shida 250 Couture Knitting Patterns). Nevertheless I ordered the pattern because I wanted to know if Jared Flood used the Japanese technique of making bobbles in knitting with a crochet needle...
I wanted the yarn to be as berry-like as possible and I fell for Silk Maiden:


Van zodra het garen toekwam werd het streng bewaakt:

Helaas helaas, zulke prachtige kleurovergangen zijn te contrasterend voor een kantpatroon, dat zou ik nu toch al moeten weten. Poes maakte mij opmerkzaam op het feit dat er twee hoofdkleuren zijn, bosbes en framboos en dat bracht mij op een idee voor het boordpatroon van de sjaal:
Alas, I should know by now that variegated handpainted yarn does not go well together with lace patterns, especially after reading this blog post by Fleegle. Pussycat drew my attention to the fact that there are two primary colours in the yarn, blueberry and raspberry and this helped me in the execution of the border of the shawl:


En voor het centrale gedeelte van de sjaal gebruikte ik éénkleurig zijden garen uit mijn wolvoorraad, eertijds gekocht op Countryside bij Art-o-Silk uit Brugge:
And for the center piece of the triangle I used some silk yarn in a solid colour from my stash:


Dit alles bleek de juiste keuze...
This proved to be the right choice...
